Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage (CCUS), the technology for decarbonising carbon dioxide (CO2) from high polluting sectors such as steel, cement, oil, gas, petrochemicals, chemicals and fertilisers, has a critical role to play for the country to halve CO2 emissions by 2050, says a report on the policy framework of the CCUS prepared by the Niti Aayog and MN Dastur & Company. The report, released here on Tuesday by Niti Aayog Vice-Chairman Suman K. Atanu Mukherjee, CEO, Dastur Energy talks at CERAWeek 2022 about Building Commercial-scale Carbon Capture Systems for Deep Decarbonization of the Industry. Economically viable and effective decarbonization of the industry requires a broad based and holistic approach to large scale carbon capture applied across the manufacturing value chain. It needs to optimize and integrate feedstocks, production, technology, scale, economics, and policy. Dastur Energy presents a systems approach to deep decarbonization for hard to decarbonize sectors like steel, cement, hydrogen, and petrochemicals.
