Dastur Energy will be partnering and collaborating with Indian Institute of Management Mumbai on the research, design and management of clean and low-carbon logistics and supply chains. They will jointly establish a Centre of Excellence for Clean and Low Carbon Supply Chain at IIM Mumbai.
The MoU was signed on 11th September, by Professor Manoj Tiwari, Director, IIM Mumbai, and Atanu Mukherjee, President and CEO, Dastur Energy, in the presence of Dr. VK Saraswat, Honourable Member of NITI Aayog.
The Centre of Excellence on Designing and Managing Low Carbon Clean Supply Chains will be housed at IIM Mumbai with technical resources and experts from IIM Mumbai and Dastur Energy. The Centre will focus on enabling government and private sector collaborations to build institutional capacity to develop systems for resilient, efficient and low-carbon integrated logistics, multi-modal transport and warehousing through joint research projects, industry partnerships, and policy advocacy.
As the Indian economy grows, the logistics and supply chain management (L&SCM) sector will play an important role in moving the economy forward. The sector is estimated to be worth $270 billion and contributes about 8-9% of India’s GDP. It is expected to reach almost $500 Billion by 2030. However, the sector is energy and emissions-intensive. With a rising carbon footprint, there is an urgent need for research in technology, design and management of next-generation supply chains that are carbon-free and address environmental and decarbonization goals while also increasing resiliency and efficiency of supply chains.
Dastur Energy is excited to bring its expertise in industry logistics, clean energy technologies, and policy design for designing commercially scalable and sustainable next-generation low-carbon supply chains.
